Job Opportunity in Tourism

Part-Time Student Position
Revelstoke Chamber of Commerce
Wage: $10.50/hour
Job Description:
This is a position offered in conjunction with Columbia Basin Trust School Works program that is for a full time student to work part-time throughout the school year. The goal is to encourage work experience in the region.

Work Tasks
Assist Visitors in the Visitors Information Centre
Assisting Chamber and Visitors Centre staff with:
-Visitor assistance
-Local community initiatives and events
-Website maintenance and Social Media Marketing

Skills Required:
Experience or interest in tourism, marketing, web and social media;
English speaking with good communication skills;
Second language would be an definite asset;
Computer skills including MS Outlook, Word, Excel and Adobe.

Duration:
Immediately - June 1, 2012

Student Criteria: Must be legally entitled to work in Canada, a full time student currently attending school in the Basin region or Online and be aged 15 or older prior to employment start date.

Hours of Work: Maximum 10 hours per week during full time school schedule

School District #73 (Kamloops) is inviting senior RSS students to participate in an RCMP Camp during Spring Break. This is a fantastic opportunity for anyone interested in a career in police work. See Ms Milmine for information.

Environmental Studies Camp!

School District 73 (Kamloops) has invited senior Revelstoke Secondary School Students to a Free Environmental Studies Camp.

Below is a list of last year's activities--this year should be similar. See Ms Milmine if you are interested.

You will get to learn about and try:
Ecology, collecting plants, digging soil pits, reading air photos, finding tree height and age, search and rescue, range ecology and management, planting trees, collecting aquatic samples, fire management and fire fighting,compassing and pacing, as well as enjoy food, campfire songs and entertainment.

Where: McQueen Lake Forestry & Environmental Studies Camp
When: Early October
Who: Selkirk College & T.R.U.will be instructing.

Voices From the Capital
