Kootenay Literary Competition

The Kootenay Literary Competition! As with previous years, there are two age groups — youth (grades 7-12) and adult (18+ years) — competing for cash prizes in creative fiction, non-fiction, and poetry categories.

Key competition dates:

• All entries must be received by 5 pm on Friday, January 17, 2014.
• Winners will be contacted on March 7, 2014.
• Prizes will be awarded at our Awards Celebration on March 14, 2014.

Video Contest: Don't let your first job be your last

Using the theme, Don't let your first job be your last, create a two-minute video that explores the topic of health and safety in your first job. 

There are categories for students in Grades 8-10 and in Grades 11-12 with lots of prize money up for grabs. 

Prizes

• First Place: $2,000 to participating school, $500 to participating students 

• Second Place: $1,500 to participating school, $500 to participating students 

• People’s Choice: $500 to participating students 

• Vine video: $250 to participating students

Contest runs to December 31st.
Crews must be between 13-20 years of age.

Somewon will outfit the winners with clothing, stickers, and a stash of other goodies.
