Revelstoke Youth Soccer Assocation is offering a few courses this spring.

Small Sided Soccer Course: April 11 at Begbie View School

This clinic is the basics of refereeing and is offered to individuals who are no less than 12 years of age. Once an individual is successful in passing this clinic, they are classified as a Small Sided Referee and may officiate in any match with players between U-6 and U-12.

You can earn 2 high school credits once you’ve completed this course, passed the written and/or oral exam, passed the practical evaluation, and documented 25 hours of practical officiating experience.

Entry Level Referee Course: March 27-29 at Begbie View School

This course enables participants to referee both small sided and 11 aside soccer. Once an individual is successful in passing this clinic they will be classified as a Youth Referee (if they are 14 or 15 years old) or a District Referee  (if they are 16 years old or older).

Pre-requisite: Minimum 14 Years old by or on the day of the clinic.

You can earn 4 high school credits once you’ve completed this course, passed the written and/or exam, passed the practical evaluation, and documented 50 additional hours of practical officiating experience (Total of 75 hrs).

BC TECHNOLOGY SCHOLARSHIP

The BC Technology Industry Association (BCTIA) is now accepting applications for the 2015 BC Technology Scholarship.

Established in 2005, the BC Technology Scholarship is an industry-funded program designed to support the next generation of tech leaders in British Columbia. By providing grants to students who have a passion for technology, the BC Tech Scholarship recognizes students pursuing post-secondary education in a technology-related field. (This includes, but is not limited to: IT, Engineering, Marketing, Digital Media, Product Management, Business Development, etc)

This year there are 4 x $1,000 grants available for Grade 12 Graduates preparing to begin their post-secondary education. There are also 2 x $5,000 grants available for current University or College Students, should you have an alumni community where you can share this news.

Successful applicants will be notified in early May, and the grant recipients will be formally presented during the 2015 Technology Impact Awards (TIAs) on June 4th, 2015. (Ability to attend the TIAs does not affect chances of being a grant recipient.)

Are you looking to make a difference in the community and/or an opportunity to volunteer?

The breakfast program at BVE could use some volunteers to help with set up, serving food and giving out smiles on Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 7:55-8:30am.

Summer Scholar's Program - UBC

The University of British Columbia is thrilled to announce the Summer Scholars Program is now open to high school applicants for summer 2015.Students will spend two weeks this July engaged in hands-on research and learning with UBC professors at the beautiful Okanagan campus - a total university experience. Two exciting courses to choose from Environmental Sciences, in which students tackle the hot topic of sustainability, and explore it through field research in lab and natural surroundings of the Okanagan valley. New this year! Applied Science, in which students are introduced to the design process through applied engineering projects, and explore topics ranging from robotics technology to 3D printing.
